Hi! I'm Francis Bittok.

I'm a Registered Nurse and Software Engineer originally from Nairobi, Kenya. I have 7+ years of clinical experience across multiple acute care specialties and a strong passion for building intelligent, user-centered systems. I began programming four years ago, and that journey reshaped my career. Today, I'm focused on data science, machine learning, and healthcare technology. My projects are built with JavaScript and TypeScript. My current interest has pivoted to data science, so I have been working extensively with Python lately. I enjoy exploring the intersection of clinical expertise and modern engineering.

A little about Nursing

I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Kenyatta University in December 2017 and have worked across renal transplant, endocrinology, spinal surgery, telemetry, and acute medical-surgical care. I am currently working at Harborview Medical Center where I serve as an inaugural Virtual Registered Nurse helping integrate CareAI into hospital workflows. Previously, I worked at St. David's North Austin Medical Center where I earned Employee of the Month recognition and at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kenya.

My Transition into Tech

My move from bedside nursing into software engineering and data science was driven by a simple realization that healthcare struggles with information overload, fragmented systems, and limited decision-support tools. I didn't want to just work around those limitations but rather build the solutions. This mindset led me into software engineering and, eventually, toward AI-driven learning tools and clinical data modeling.

BittsAI: My Main Technical Project

In 2025, I founded BittsAI, a full-stack AI learning platform designed to address the traditional learning and assessment challenges. Built with TypeScript, Next.js, Supabase, and modern AI tooling, BittsAI demonstrates my commitment to creating intelligent, user-centered applications.   • Comprehensive Analytics: Tracks correctness, time spent, hint usage, confidence levels, and click patterns to generate personalized performance insights and recommendations.

  • Document System: Reusable content rendered outside chat with full context retention.

  • Suggested Actions: Recommendations for what to do next based on your conversation context.
  • Monetization: Subscription tiers with usage limits, payment processing, and feature gates using Stripe.
